What
is coaching? |
WorkingIntentionally™
aligns with the following definition of coaching:
Coaching
is: inspiring an individual or team to produce
a desired result through personalized
teaching, expanding awareness,
and designing environments.
The
International Coach Federation (ICF)
defines
coaching as:
"A
collaborative partnership between a coach and a willing individual
which connects at the deep personal level of beliefs, values and
vision, and which enables, through a process of discovery, goal
setting and specific action steps, the realization of extraordinary
results. Coaching is also a body of knowledge, a technology, and
a style of relating that focuses on the development of human potential.
Coaching is inter-developmental in that the collaboration develops
both the coach and the individual being coached."
The
International Association of Coaches (IAC) believes that
the coach's role is
to "foward the best interests of the client". This is
done by the coach practicing and embodying the 15
coaching proficiencies.

What
do coaches do? |
Coaches guide people to clarity around what is really most important
to them. When people know what is most important they can then be
at choice. From choice they can move people into action to create
more balanced and effective personal and professional lives.
Think of a coach as a personal trainer that stretches and exercises
your mind.
Coaching does not create a dependency situation.
A coach works with you to develop the skills to excel and
profit in life beyond the coaching environment. We reinforce
and build upon your personal foundation.
Coaches ask questions - We believe that clients really do have their
own answers already. We guide them to their own awareness.
We are the catalysts, the sounding boards and the provokers.

What
Coaching is not:Coaching is Not Therapy |
Therapy
and Coaching don't compare. The therapy model is a medical model
which presumes something is wrong and needs fixing.
Coaching
is about creating new awareness and new opportunities and moving
you into action.
Coaches believe
and see their clients as fundamentally resourceful, creative, and
whole.

Coaching
is not Consulting |
Consultants
have answers - they may or not be appropriate to the client.
Coaches
believe that that clients have most of the answers already but just
can't see them or know how to identify them. We operate in the domain
of learning. We we expand awareness. When a person discovers and
grounds their learning to their own experience they expand and produce
a result.
Consulting:
plan, plan, plan, plan, execute
Coaching: Discover
- do something - Discover
- do something
There is a
distinction between the coach sharing what is there with the client
versus telling the client what to do.

Do
you have your own coach? |
Matthew
Rochte's Coaches
Yes, all good
coaches should and do have them. At times I have several for different
purposes. They keep us at the top of our games, just like we do
with our clients. In addition I work with buddy coaches to further
my learning and keep abreast of my field.

What
is a Session Like? |
You are the focus of every session. We will explore and expand your
understanding of what is going on and where you want to go with
it. Often, I will ask you powerful questions and listen both to
the response and to what I am sensing in you. Often there is more
than one message in a response. We will discover what is, what you
want, what happens next and how we will get you there. We will have
fun and celebrate you. We will work on creating the life you want.
We will create environments that will support the changes you are
bringing forth and make them sustainable. Practice makes permanent.
I will support you and hold you accountable to your life agenda.
We will have fun! We will work your mind off.
Sessions are
handled over the phone in 20-45 minute blocks. This is an efficient,
effective and powerful method for both of us to zoom in and focus
on the current coaching issue(s) and get on with the day. - I am,
after all, in the business of simplifying lives. In addition to
scheduled sessions, I make myself available for quick-coaching (5-10
minute sessions) to share successes, review an issue or to bounce
ideas.

What
are your fees? |
Rates
vary. We don't charge by the hour - but more by the project. On
average our individual clients pay $1200 a month for 4 hours of
coaching and email follow up on a 3 month work commitment, to
$75 for a one session, fast paced 15 minute, laser coaching call
for individuals.
Keep
it Simple: For individuals it is 10% of your
monthly takehome. You are leveraging your 10% to grow your 90%
through innovation, perspective shifts, and action.
Discovery
Session: A Discovery Session is held with every new client. This
is where we co-create the relationship and discover what is and
what is possible. We offer several assessments and set the groundwork
for our work together. This can be 2hrs to full 1/2day on site.
